SERVICE

Boat and Yacht Transport Built
Around Your Vessel

A boat is not shipped like a car, and it should not be handled like one. Every hull has its own shape, weight, and height, so Rivalane matches each vessel to the right trailer and securement and plans the route around it. From a small powerboat to a multi ton yacht, we manage the whole move by land, with international sailings when your destination is overseas.

The process

How Boat & Yacht Transport Works

Boat and yacht transport follows a clear process from booking to delivery, and every step is handled by a carrier that hauls vessels regularly, not as an occasional add-on.

Once you request a quote, your boat is matched with a carrier equipped for your hull and route, based on the pickup and delivery locations, the vessel size, and your timeline.

At pickup, the driver inspects your boat, confirms its condition, and loads it with proper cradles, bunks, and straps sized for your hull. The vessel stays secure and supported for the full route, whether it travels trailerable or as an oversize load.

At delivery, the driver contacts you ahead of arrival, and your boat is inspected again before the move is complete, so its condition on arrival matches what was recorded at pickup.

Personal Watercraft & Pontoons

Jet skis, wave runners, pontoons, and deck boats, moved singly or in groups on equipment matched to each.

your transport options

Domestic Overland vs International by Sea:
Which Route Fits Your Move?

Domestic overland transport is how most boats and yachts move. We haul your vessel by road on a specialized trailer across all 50 states, with door to door pickup and delivery and faster turnaround. It suits trailerable and oversize boats traveling coast to coast or state to state.

International shipping by sea covers destinations outside the country. Rivalane coordinates ocean transport through trusted carriers, including container, flat rack, and roll on roll off options from major ports, and manages loading, paperwork, and delivery on both ends.

Oversize and over-height vessels need extra planning. We arrange route surveys, state permits, and pilot or escort vehicles where width or height requires them, and we can lower or remove flybridges, radar arches, and towers to open up more routes and keep the move compliant.

What affects the cost?

Boat and yacht shipping cost depends on the details of the move, not just the distance.

Cost factor
Why it matters
Distance
Longer routes cost more because of fuel, driver time, and routing
Length
Larger vessels may need special equipment
Beam
Wider boats and yachts may require oversize permits or route planning
Height
Tall boats and yachts may need equipment removed to clear bridges and wires
Weight
Heavier boats and yachts require the right trailer and hauling setup
Pickup and delivery access
Marina, crane, travel lift, or yard access can affect scheduling
Permits and escorts
Oversize loads may need state permits or escort vehicles
Season and timing
Busy seasons or urgent moves can increase pricing
Insurance requirements
Higher value vessels may need extra review or coverage confirmation

A cheap boat or yacht shipping quote is only useful if it includes the real details. If dimensions, permits, access, and insurance are ignored, the final price can change later.

BEFORE YOU SHIP

What to Know Before Shipping Your Boat

A little preparation keeps your boat shipment on schedule and free of surprises, from pickup to delivery.

Most of these steps take only a few minutes, but skipping them is one of the most common reasons pickups run behind. Handling them ahead of time keeps everything smooth.

Measure Your Vessel

Note length overall, beam, and height, including the trailer, swim platform, and any pulpit. Accurate dimensions decide the equipment and any permits your move needs.

Remove Loose Gear

Electronics, cushions, personal items, and anything not fastened down should come off before pickup. Loose gear can shift or get damaged in transit.

Batteries and Fluids

Disconnect and secure batteries, drain systems as needed, and seal hatches, windows, and doors against the weather so nothing works loose on the road.

Document and Check

Photograph the vessel's condition before pickup, and if it ships on its own trailer, confirm the tires, bearings, lights, and straps are road ready.
