Our Terms and Conditions let you name a customer's agent, an individual over 18 who acts on your behalf at pickup or delivery. A family member, a friend, a building manager, a dealer or a storage facility employee can all serve as your agent.
What your agent has to do
Meet the driver, inspect the vehicle in the driver's presence, compare it with the pickup record, note any new damage as an exception on the Bill of Lading before signing, sign, keep a copy, and hand over the carrier's balance in an accepted form (cash, certified funds, cashier's check or money order).
Why the briefing matters
Your agent's signature has the same effect as yours. A clean signature confirms the car arrived in satisfactory condition and closes the door on a later claim. Send your agent the pickup Bill of Lading and your dated photos, and explain that the inspection comes before the signature.
Deliveries to a business
If the car is going to a dealership, a body shop or a storage facility, confirm that someone there will accept it during the delivery window and will do the inspection. Businesses sometimes sign without looking.
Give us the agent's name and phone number before dispatch so the carrier knows who to call.
