When you book with Rivalane, your order is matched with a motor carrier that holds active FMCSA operating authority and cargo insurance. We check both before the carrier is assigned and we confirm coverage before pickup. Once a carrier accepts your order, we confirm the assignment and the carrier's name with you, and the driver usually contacts you directly to arrange a pickup time.
The driver who arrives at pickup is employed by or contracted to that carrier, not by Rivalane. The driver inspects the car with you, records its condition on the Bill of Lading, loads it and transports it. At delivery the same inspection happens in reverse.
What stays with Rivalane?
We remain your point of contact for the whole move. If a pickup window moves, if the truck cannot reach your street, or if you need to change the delivery address, you call or email us and we coordinate with the carrier. If something goes wrong at delivery, we supply the carrier's documents so you can file a claim, as long as you tell us within 48 hours.
Carriers in our network are independent companies. We do not own the trucks, and we say so plainly because it affects how payment, insurance and claims work. The articles linked below explain each of those in turn.
